Mercy Ships is an international charity which operates the largest non-governmental hospital ships in the world. Recently the organization constructed a new flagship, the GLOBAL MERCY. The new addition to their fleet will more than double the surgical and training capacity, and it is expected that more than 150.000 lives will be changed on board through surgery over the lifespan of this vessel.

After the vessel left the Tianjin Xingang shipyard earlier this year, she is now passing through the Suez Canal bound for the Port of Antwerp. EDR Antwerp Shipyard is joining the cause and contributing with our expertise and technical assistance on board. One week after the International Day of Charity (5th of September 2021) the Global Mercy will arrive in the Port of Antwerp, where EDR Antwerp Shipyard will go on board to further equip the GLOBAL MERCY as full hospital ship.

Our contribution will be expanded over the lifespan of the vessel, by offering drydocking assistance during the first special survey of the vessel. We can make sure that the vessel stays in top shape, so that the GLOBAL MERCY can carry on making the world a better place, port by port.

We are calling out for additional volunteers. Are you interested – send an email to philippe.trouillard@edr-antwerp.eu and join us!
